AIR SERVICE IN HARRISON

Harrison, AR Courthouse

What's Going On?

The DOT is looking to the community of Harrison to decide what kind of air service Harrison is going to receive for the coming years. Currently the routes are being serviced by pressurized Pilatus aircraft by Seaport. Unless travelers speak up, however, the town is going to end up with slow, noisy, unpressurized Cessna Caravans from Seaport - for the next four years! The only carrier to offer a continuation of the pressurized, faster Pilatus aircraft this time is Boutique Air. Furthermore, Boutique Air has offered one-stop service to Dallas (DFW) via Hot Springs. This is important because from DFW, you can reach nearly two hundred other cities non-stop.

Boutique Air

Boutique Air is offering a few different options for improving Boone County's air service. The best of these, Option 1, includes three one-stop trips to Dallas and three non-stop trips to Memphis each service day. While we intend to keep the low fares that are currently being offered out of Harrison, we don't charge any change fees, bag fees, pet fees, or unaccompanied minor fees.

Here is the route map and daily frequencies for Boutique Air's Option 1:

Seaport is requesting more Federal money per mile flown, even while switching to the cheaper Caravan!

test

Seaport is requesting a 1.93% drop in subsidy, for a 11.67% drop in miles. That means they will be asking for a little less subsidy, to do a lot less flying, resulting in a 11.02% increase in cost to the taxpayer per mile flown. All the source documents and bids by the airlines can be found at the DOT document repository. You can look through the bids to learn more. This document provides a good summary.

What Can I do?

Make your opinion known to the Feds and your city officials! Fill out the comment form below to send to local and Federal officials or click here to go to the Federal only comment form. It is best to explain specifically what you would like to see and how you would use the service. For example, "I want Boutique Air to be the air service provider for Harrison because the additional service to Dallas will help me get to places I need to go for business." Or, "I support Boutique Air's proposal because the modern pressurized Pilatus aircraft will save me time and offer a more comfortable ride when I go to see my relatives in Memphis."
